Andhra Pradesh government has decided to start AP Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Kits Scheme 2023 for students. For this purpose, AP govt. had issued an order earlier on 2023 granting administrative permits to purchase educational kits.

The total cost to purchase Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Kits is estimated at Rs. 655.60 crore of which state’s share is of Rs. 262.24 crore.

As the schools are going to be reopened on August 3, the CM is preparing to launch YSR Vidhya Kanuka on the same day, where all the school-going students will be provided with uniforms, books, belts, shoes, and socks.

The YSR educational kits under AP Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Kits Scheme 2023 would be delivered through the Comprehensive Training Center Scheme.

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officers to complete the first phase of development works in schools under the Nadu-Nedu initiative by the end of July and prepare for the launch of YSR Vidya Kanuka on 3 August 2021 when schools will be reopened.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday announced that all government school students would be given the Vidya Kanuka kit on June 1 much before the reopening of schools on June 12 for the academic year 2023.

Need for AP YSR Vidhya Kanuka Scheme

Andhra Pradesh govt. is making all efforts to improve the overall quality of education. In line with Amma Vodi Scheme, Goru Mudda Scheme, Nadu-Nedu, English medium education, AP govt. will provide Vidya Kanuka Kits to each student.

The state govt. aims to increase literacy rate and Gross Enrollment Ration (GER) in colleges through these initiatives. To date, the refurbishment work of 12,365 schools had been initiated in 1st phase of the Naadu Nedu Scheme.

AP govt. has identified 9 basic components including toilets, fans, drinking water, furniture, repair works, compound walls, and English labs. Around 45,000 schools, colleges, and hostels would be covered under the Mana Badi Nadu Nedu scheme.

English medium curriculum is being developed for classes 1 to 6 with thin and child-friendly books along with handbooks for parents. To enable teachers to learn English medium teaching, self-learning apps, training, and assessment tests are introduced. From now onward, each school will have an English lab while Telugu will remain a compulsory subject.

Eligibility Criteria

The Andhra Pradesh Education Department has laid down certain eligibility criteria for applicants seeking online applications for this scheme. Those who wish to take advantage of this scheme will have to fulfill the given eligibility criteria.

• Only legally permanent resident students of Andhra Pradesh are eligible to avail of this scheme.
• According to the draft of the scheme prepared by the Andhra Pradesh government, only students studying in government schools can avail of this scheme.
• Only regular school going students are eligible to apply under this scheme. Additionally, other students are not eligible to apply.
• According to the official draft released by the state government, students from first-class to high school will be able to get the educational kit provided by the government.

“In line with the Amma Vodi scheme, Goru Mudda (Mid-day meal scheme with new menu), Naadu-Nedu, and English medium education, the government will give Vidya Kanuka kit to every student,” he announced.

“There are about 36, 10,000 students and on June 1, each student will be given a kit worth ₹ 1,350 consisting of a school bag, text and notebooks, cloth for three pairs of uniform, a pair of shoes and two pairs of socks and a belt.

The amount towards stitching of uniforms would also be paid,” the Chief Minister said.
