YSR Rythu Seva Lo Upadhi Mitra Scheme 2022 (YRSUM) NREGA Job For Migrant Registration:- A farmer-friendly scheme, YSR Rythu Seva Lo Upadhi Mitra (YRSUM), is under discussions to address the sudden rise in unemployment in the state owing to Covid-19. The project aims to use National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) workers in agriculture.
As per the instructions from the commissioner of rural development, all concerned district officials have sent their project report for the YRSUM. According to the instructions from Rural Development Commissioner, all the concerned district officials have sent their project report for YRSUM Scheme.
Most of the migrant workers who have returned from their working state (karma bhumi) to their home states (janma bhoomi) are now facing job related problems. Their employment has been lost and thus there is danger on their livelihood.

So, the state govt. of Andhra Pradesh is going to start YSR Rythu Seva Lo Upadhi Mitra Scheme to provide jobs to these returnee migrant laborers. These workers would be able to work in agricultural fields in their native state just like under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). These migrants can earn money to sustain their livelihood.
A large number of migrant workers have returned to their hometown in Andhra Pradesh during nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak. These migrant laborers are mostly from high-risk areas like Tamil Nadu, Maharastra, Gujarat, and Delhi state where they work in small companies or other jobs. Andhra Pradesh Govt is now looking for ways to provide this population with alternative jobs.
The authorities of the agriculture department and allied sectors have stepped in to solve the employment issue. These 2 sectors will need thousands of labor in the next five months. About 63.5 lakh hectares make up the net sown area of 1.57 crore acres in the 13 districts.

The state government is now looking for ways to provide this population with alternative jobs. Sources in the agriculture department and allied sectors said their authorities have stepped in to solve the issue stating that the sector will need thousands of labor in the next five months.
About 63.5 lakh hectares make up the net sown area of 1.57 crore acres in the 13 districts. When contacted, Srikakulam agriculture joint director K Sridhar said “The YRSUM is a boon to the agriculture. We welcome this program as it will help farmers, who are currently facing shortage of labour. Besides, the shortage has pushed up daily wages. A farmer pays at least Rs 300-Rs 500 per head as daily wage to agriculture labour.
Work Provided For Migrant Worker Under YRSUM
The labour will be needed for the agriculture related works in the Kharif season which will last from July to November 2020. One acre of crop requires at-least 200 labourers for all kinds of work, which includes:-
- Nursery bed preparation
- Land preparation
- Field levelling
- Ploughing bund formation
- Seedling picking
- Weeding
- Fertilization
- Pesticide sprinkling
- Alleys formation
- Harvesting
- Crushing

The Registration will be Dome by Gram panchayat. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, many migrant workers have been rendered jobless. Now the state govt wants to engage these migrant laborers in a sector which is labor-intensive. It is because it is impossible for the govt to financially support every person by crediting money directly to their bank account under various schemes.
