Gujarat state government has taken the initiative to launch or introduce a new scheme for the farmers of the state. The name of this scheme is Suryashakti Kisan Yojana. This scheme is run by the Gujarat state government to tackle the use of large quantities of electricity in the state. This scheme is announced by the former chief minister of Gujarat Mr. Vijay Rupani.
The main purpose to launch Suryashakti Kisan Yojana 2023 is to save electricity in the state. In this scheme, farmers will get help to use solar panels for irrigation in their fields. At the time of announcing this farmer’s welfare scheme, the chief minister said that government will help farmers financially to install solar panels.
Suryashakti Kisan Yojana 2023
Farmers of 33 districts of Gujarat will get subsidies to install solar panels in the first step of this scheme. But state government of Gujarat wants to give the benefits of Suryashakti Kisan Yojana 2023 to the whole state.

Key points of Gujarat Suryashakti Kisan Yojana
- Gujarat state government has taken this step which is very important because farmers can make their own electricityand after their own use they can sell left over electricity to government. This will increase their income.
- So farmers who have their own electricity connection will get solar panel as per their requirements. Solar Panel will help them to produce electricity for irrigation.
- State and central government will give 60% subsidy on total cost of solar panel. 35% project cost will be fulfil by personal loan on 4.5 to 6% low interest rates. And rest 5% project cost will be done by farmers themselves.
- Around 12,400 farmers will be benefited by this scheme. This was a dream of Prime minister to double the income of farmers and give them electricity on maximum time of the day.
- Under this project farmers will produce 175 kilo watt electricity which will be a great step to save electricity in the state.

- Farmers will get electricity for 12 hour daily for the irrigation.
- Gujarat Suryashakti Kisanyojana will decrease the pollution due to use of diesel and petrol irrigation pumps.
- Farmers can also sell extra electricity and get income from government.
- When farmers will repay their loan they will become owner od PV system.
- State government will give insurance of this PV system.
- SKY Scheme will helpful to develop the rural economy of Gujarat State.
