Assam government has launched a new Pragyan Bharati Scheme for students. Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had already announced this scheme as a one of the 18 flagship programmes in the Assam state budget for FY 2023. In this scheme, govt. will provide admission fee waiver, free textbooks, uniforms in govt. schools.

Along with this, textbook assistance to Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) students. Moreover, mess dues, one time education loan subsidy would also be provided. In August 2020 Assam Finance Minister Himaat Biswa Sharma will announce Assam Scooty Scheme for Meritorious Students.

The meritorious female students of Class 12th in Assam will also get scooties. Among those 18 schemes announced in Assam Budget 2023, Pragyan Bharati Scheme is considered as the best scheme for graduate and post graduate students. We all know that the students in our country are facing a lot of financial issues due to the coronavirus lockdown but the Assam Government has come as a rescue to all of the government students residing in the state. The scheme is known as the Assam Pragyan Bharati scheme for the year 2023.

Pragyan Bharati Scheme benefit

The main objective of launching this scheme is to provide proper resources to all of the girls’ students who have been studying in Assam state. This scheme will also encourage the girls to take up great higher education and be independent on their own. The students will get encouraged by the number of benefits that will be provided under the scheme. Each student will get a Scooty which will be helpful to them in travelling.

Objective Of Pragyan Bharati

The main objective of the scheme as explained by the Finance Minister of Assam state was to help all of the poor students residing in the Assam state. The Finance Minister of Assam state also stated that all of the students are not able to pay their financial fees due to the coronavirus lockdown and thus to help all of the students, he has launched this scheme. The scheme will be providing many benefits to the student and thus will be able to help the students to regain their education.

Official Launch of Assam Pragyan Bharati Scheme

As announced in Assam Budget 2023, the state govt. has released Rs. 1000 to bank account of 67531 graduation students each for procurement of textbooks. This step has been taken under Pragyan Bharati Scheme & will include 2 lakh students this year. In Assam, we provide free textbooks up to Higher Secondary level.

The Assam govt. has issued an advertisement that Rs 1000 will be granted to the under graduate student. According to the notice 67,531 Student can avail free textbook assistance, total of 5,75,31,000/– Rs fund released by the government.

Eligibility Criteria

There is no specific eligibility criteria that the students will have to follow while applying for the scheme but the basic eligibility criteria are as follows-

• The students must be a resident of Assam state.
• students must be studying in government or government-aided school.
• The student must be an undergraduate or a postgraduate.
• The government will give different benefits to different types of students.

There is no specific application procedure that the student will have to follow to apply for the scheme. You can only contact your concerned college or school authorities to avail the benefit of this scheme. You must keep in mind that only government school students are eligible for the benefit.
