Objective of Gram Ujala Scheme
So this scheme is launched for the villages and rural areas of five districts of five states. Aarah (Bihar), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh), Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Villages in Western Gujarat will get the benefits of this scheme. This scheme will be implemented by Carbon Credit. The total expenses will be done by Carbon credit. People can get 7 and 12 watt LED Bulbs by submitting their old incandescent bulbs. There will be electronic meter will be installed in the houses of the people to count the uses of electricity units.

In villages till now people did not get LED bulbs, so they are consuming excesses electricity which is cause of high electricity bills also. Now with these LED bulbs they can reduce their electricity consumption and also save the energy.
Benefits of Gram Ujala Yojana

- This high quality bulbs will be given in just rupees 10/- per bulb. Before there were a scheme which provided these bulbs in 70/- rupees. This price is not payable for villagers. So government has introduced this scheme, in which they will give these bulbs for old bulbs.

- Under this scheme Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) will distribute 60 crores of bulbs to villagers.

- The total cost of these bulbs will be 4,000 crore, in which only 600 crores will be given by people. Rest 34000 crores will be given by Carbon credit’s income.
- These bulbs can also helpful for saving environment and to make green gas.
