Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is the new political party previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). This political party has a very strong hold in Telangana state.

Party was started in 2001 by K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Currently, he is the president of BRS and the chairperson of this party is K.T. Rama Rao. This party started while splitting from Telugu Desam Party in 2001, 27th of April.

After the separation, this party starts its campaigning in Telangana as well as in Andhra Pradesh. They are getting a very good response in Telangana and came into government and KCR become Chief Minister of Telangana. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has and single point agenda they want to create a separate Telangana state with Telangana as its capital.

In 2014 when the Telangana election was held then this party got a very good response and came in the majority. In 2014 this party wins 11 seats and then became the 8th largest party in Lok Sabha. In 2018 this party also got a good response and they again made government. Right now they have nine Lok Sabha members and 6 Rajya Sabha members.
