Opium is cultivated in India from very long time. For that cultivation comment provide licence and you can only cultivate this crop under government licence. These States have different policy regarding opium cultivation, and other states do not have policy regarding this crop cultivation. Few areas like Chittorgarh, Jhalawar and Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh produce 80% of the total area of this crop production.
