It is a pension scheme for senior citizens whose age is above 65 years. Where there is old age person there is happiness and blessings. Old people are the treasure for any country. But according to many surveys the condition of old age people are not good in our society. They are tortured and humiliated many times by their own family members. The percentage of the old age people harassed and humiliated is more than 71%.Poor financial condition, diseases and lack of moral values is the main reasons for the pathetic condition of the old age persons.
Applicants Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be a resident of the state Maharashtra.
- The applicant should be a senior citizen that is a person should be aged above 65 years old.
- The annual family income should be below Rs. 21000/-.
- The name of the person should not be included in the BPL List to get Category A Beneficiary.
- The person whose named is included in the BPL list will get the beneficiary of Category B.
Key Points of Shravan Bal Yojana
- This amount can be spent by a senior citizen to overcome the economic problem in his life. At this age, physical strength is reduced due to which people are unable to work and in such a situation, people of many families feel that the senior citizens of their home are burdened; they do not consider it necessary to meet their needs, help of such destitute senior citizens. The government is providing this amount in the form of financial assistance to them. The main objective of this scheme is to make senior citizens of the state self-reliant.
- This scheme is a state government sponsored pension scheme run especially for the poor and needy senior citizens of the state.
- Financial assistance will be provided to the elderly citizens of the state under this scheme. Financial assistance of 600 rupees per month will be provided as pension to the poor and needy senior citizens of the state.
- The candidates belonging to BPL category will be given 400 rupees per month under the state government and 200 rupees under the PM Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme. Applicants who have not been listed under the BPL category by the Maharashtra government will get the benefit of 600 rupees per month.

Under this Scheme every destitute person of age 65 years & above &whose annual family income is below Rs. 21000/- & whose name is not included in the BPL List get Rs.600/- per month from the state Govt.
Category – (B) : Also under this scheme, every destitute person of age 65 years and above and belonging to BPL family is eligible to get pension of Rs. 400/- per month from the state Govt. and the same beneficiary also receives pension of Rs.200/- per month from the Central Govt., under Indira Gandhi National Old Age pension Scheme.
