Hello Everyone Tamil Nadu state Government has announced to launch the new scheme for women termed as the Amma Two Wheeler Scheme. Under the new scheme, the state government shall be offering financial assistance to the women of the state who need a mode of transport for moving from their workplace and back.

The state government has stated that it shall be offering women applicants with benefit for applying for the purchase of Two wheeler Scooter at the subsidized rate by the government. The employed women have great news as they will be able to apply for Amma 2 Wheeler scheme till 2023.

It is expected that a lot of women will register themselves under this scheme as the date has been extended. It is a scheme to assist poor working woman to purchase women-friendly two wheelers to commute to the working places.

Ease of use is the key consideration and therefore the vehicle is gearless/Autogear. Differently abled, three-wheeled retrofitted scooters may be availed. Under Amma Two Wheeler Scheme, the government will offer subsidies for the purchase of scooters.

The subsidy will be around 50% of the overall cost of the two-wheeler vehicle. This scheme was launched on the birth anniversary of Jayalalitha Ji. The scheme is only applicable in Tamil Nadu state and named as Amma Two Wheeler Scheme 2023. Objective of this scheme – This scheme mainly launched to empower women because when we empower women in family, we empower entire family (added by PM Modi Ji).

Amma Two Wheeler Scheme 2020-21

The government offers a subsidy amount of Rs. 25,000/- at the time of sanction. The government will also assist the working women with financial assistance for the purchase of vehicle directly by the banking and non-banking financial institutions.

One lakh working women will be benefitted through the scheme. A maximum subsidy of Rs.25,000/- or 50% of the cost of the two wheeler whichever is less. Balance cost over and above the subsidy amount has to be borne by the beneficiaries through Bank loan or through other means.

Amma Two Wheeler Scheme Benefits

  1. 1 lakh women to benefit each year.
  2. Subsidy of 50% of the cost of the scooter or Rs.25,000, whichever is lower. (Free fund from the government for the purchase of Amma scooter)
  3. Applicable to all rural and urban areas of Tamil Nadu.
  4. Subsidy to be directly credited to the beneficiaries bank account.
  5. Differently-Abled women can avail of retro-fitted three-wheeler scooters.
  6. Can avail of bank loan for the remaining amount or pay through own funds.

Provided Vehicle Specification

  1. Maximum engine capacity should be 125cc
  2. The vehicle must be eligible to be registered under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.
  3. Vehicles must be manufactured after 01.01.2018 and comply with 2 latest emission norms.
  4. The details of all vehicles provided under the scheme will be collected / collected by the Project Director (PD) of the concerned district, Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM).
  5. This detail will also be shared with the Department of Transport, which will not allow changes in registration of ownership for sale or other reasons without prior permission of PD, TNSRLM for a period of 3 years.

The scheme, with a subsidy component of 50 per cent upto Rs 25,000 for working women, was launched by Modi, who handed over the keys and registration certificate copies to five women beneficiaries.

  9. Scooty or Scooter Quotation from the nearest Showroom.

Eligibility Criteria for This scheme

  1. The applicants must be the permanent resident of Tamilnadu state.
  2. The age of the women must be between 18 to 40 years.
  3. The annual income of the family of the applicant from all sources must not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
  4. Only one women in any family can apply for the scheme.

Amma Two Wheeler Scheme beneficiary is eligible for receiving only one scooter under the scheme and if the beneficiary agrees to submit her records to get bike for her relative she will lose the chance of getting subsidy for her bike in future and no woman will be ready to forgo her subsidy,” said a top official from the TNCDW, on request of anonymity.

  3. No application fee should be collected from the applicant for the form.
  4. The application forms will be filled and submitted to the respective Block offices / Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
  5. The filled-in Application forms can be submitted either in person or by Registered/ Speed Post.
  6. A unique application number will be assigned to each application form containing the ULB/RLB code followed by the running serial number within the ULB/RLB.
