Guys The main history of the scheme is related to the late chief minister Doctor YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He was the previous Chief Minister of the Andhra Pradesh state before the current Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He was a very hard working individual and his main aim was to provide free electricity to all of the agriculture sector present in the Andhra Pradesh state.
His vision was to make a Green Andhra Pradesh. He was not able to fulfil the vision. Now, the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state has taken over the vision and is providing free electricity to all of the agricultural sectors in the Andhra Pradesh state.
Friends, The previous Chief Minister has spent around 6000 crores in 2013 to fulfil his vision. Now the current Chief Minister will launch the scheme.
The government will install smart meters to all agricultural power connections as part of the Centre-suggested reforms that it agreed to implement for a two per cent hike in FRBM Act borrowing limit that will entail an additional loan of about Rs 20,000 crore to the state during the current fiscal, highly-placed official sources said.
Scheme Key Points and Benefits
- The scheme will be available to all the farmers across the state
- Government will set up smart meters to all the agricultural power connections. Estimated cost of this installation is Rs. 1,500 crores
- This installation will be as a part of centre suggested reforms which will enable a 2% hike in the borrowing limit under FRBM act up to an additional amount of Rs. 20,000 crores to the state as loan.
- Under this scheme, farmers will be required to open separate bank accounts
- Government will credit the bill amount directly to these bank accounts
- Accordingly, the farmer will pay the same amount to the applicable power distribution company in the area.
- Farmers will not have to pay their own money, rather government will pay for it.
Guys The free power to the farm sector was introduced by late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in May 2004 and subsequent governments continued it.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made it clear that the electricity provided to farmers will always be free and not a single connection will be removed. He assured that the reforms being carried out by the government would not place a single burden on the farmer.
