Maharashtra government has started Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This CM Employment Generation Program is expected to create 10 lakh jobs in the upcoming 5 years. The flagship CMEGP programme of the Industries Department would have 30% reservation for women entrepreneurs. Individuals / Non individuals can now apply online for CMEGP Program and fill application / registration form and make login at maha-cmegp.org.in

Individual Entrepreneurs, Institutions, Co-operative Societies, Self Help Groups, Trusts would be CMEGP Programme beneficiaries. The beneficiary contribution would be low in order to facilitate setting up of more enterprises through CM Employment Generation Programme.

Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme

Government of Maharashtra has approved the introduction of a new credit linked subsidy
programme called Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP) for
generation of employment opportunities through establishment of Micro & Small Enterprises
(project cost limited to Rs. 50 lacs) in rural as well as urban areas in the state.

The Scheme will be implemented and monitored by Directorate of Industries (DOI), under the
administrative control of Industries Department, Government of Maharashtra. The Scheme
will be implemented through District Industries Centers (DICs), Maharashtra State Khadi and
Village Industries Boards (KVIB) under the control of Directorate of Industries and also by
banks. The subsidy under the scheme will be routed through DOI to the identified banks for
eventual distribution to the beneficiaries/entrepreneurs in their bank accounts after the
stipulated period.

The Maharashtra government will soon launch the Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which will create 10 lakh jobs in the next five years, said Harshadeep Kamble, State Development Commissioner (Industries), on Tuesday.

The flagship programme of the Industries Department will have 30 percent reservation for women entrepreneurs, he added The senior IAS officer said the scheme, approved by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, envisages setting up one lakh units in five years, out of which 40 percent will be in rural areas. Kamble said this year’s target is setting up 10,000 micro-ventures by first-generation entrepreneurs. The scheme will be implemented on the lines of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) with online applications and other procedures, he added.

“This scheme is for promoting entrepreneurship and to address unemployment issues among educated unemployed youth,” Kamble said. According to him, the scheme will provide easy financial assistance as a viability gap funding for approved project costs of up to Rs 50 lakh for manufacturing activities and up to Rs 10 lakh for service sector activities.

The programme will cover manufacturing, service, and agro-based activities, including those in retail, said Kamble, who was responsible for the concept, design and approvals of the scheme, from preparation to implementation stages.

The state govt. would start CM Employment Generation Programme in which govt. aims to setup 1 lakh units in 5 years. Around 40% of these units would be started in rural areas. The target is to setup 10,000 micro ventures by 1st generation entrepreneurs. Following the similar lines of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), there would be CMEGP online application form and other procedures.

Eligibility Criteria for CMEGP


• Any individual between 18 to 45 years of age.
• The candidate who is interested in self-employment.
• For Special category (including SC/ST/Women/Ex-servicemen/Differently abled)
age is relaxed by 5 years.
• Assistance under the Scheme is available only for new micro small enterprises
projects/ventures limited to Rs.50 lacs.
• The required educational criteria for the applicant is minimum 7th standard pass and
for project/units above Rs.25 lakh the required educational criteria for the applicant is
minimum 10th standard pass. The applicants should also preferably possess respective
/ relevant skills required for the project.
• Those candidates who are availing the benefit of any other scheme of the State
Government will not be eligible for the scheme.

Maharashtra CMEGP Scheme Implementation

CMEGP Scheme aims to promote entrepreneurship and to tackle the issues related to unemployment. The new Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme will provide financial assistance as a viability gap funding. This funding would be for approved project cost of upto Rs. 50 lakh for manufacturing activities and upto Rs. 10 lakh for service sector activities.

The nodal bank for the CMEGP programme will be Corporation Bank and beneficiaries will be financed by nationalised and private sector banks like Yes Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.
