Hyderabad district has initiated a groundbreaking online system to allocate 2BHKs, maintaining utmost transparency in the selection process. Under the GHMC Housing Allotment Randomization Hyderabad List, the software was created by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), in a bid led by Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty.
Inaugurated at the Hyderabad Collectorate by animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, the system was introduced to curb discontentment amongst beneficiaries. Earlier, lots were drawn in the presence of applicants, which led to a spate of protests and criticism of the system. Now, the entire lucky draw process, including the selection of beneficiaries and the allotment of 2 BHKs, will be executed online, resulting in a more impartial allocation of housing to 7,500 beneficiaries in all 15 assembly constituencies during the first phase.

Just under three years ago, residents living in poverty in Hyderabad city applied for government-allocated two-bedroom homes at no cost. Each constituency had between 5,000 and 10,000 applicants, with GHMC officials and other departments verifying their eligibility through field-level investigations.
Despite millions of applications, only half of them were assessed, with the remainder due to be completed as part of a phased allocation process from early September. In 15 constituencies of Hyderabad district, 1.61 lakh individuals applied, with officials visiting the homes of 80,000 people to confirm their eligibility and compiling a report submitted to revenue authorities.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav chaired a meeting on Saturday that included GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetti, Medchal-Malkajgiri Collector Harish, Rangareddy District Collector Amay Kumar, and GHMC Housing OSD Suresh. The decision was made to coordinate the distribution of 2BHK houses to eligible beneficiaries within their respective areas, as instructed by the minister.
Double Bedroom Sanction List 2023
On September 2, eight locations will host the distribution of 2BHK houses to 12,000 beneficiaries in the first phase. To ensure transparency in the selection process, the Hyderabad District Collector’s office will use randomisation software for a draw to choose beneficiaries on August 24. In a recent meeting at Pragathi Bhavan, KTR and ministers in charge of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts instructed the distribution of 70,000 2BHK houses across six phases.

KTR, during the meeting, highlighted the government’s objective to provide housing for the less fortunate by constructing 100,000 2BHK homes. It was revealed that 75,000 homes had already been built, with 5,000 of them having been allocated in Hyderabad and other districts.

- On Thursday, the identities of 12,000 fortunate individuals who qualify for two-bedroom homes in Greater Hyderabad will be disclosed.
